Penny sure looks sweet and cuddly! I guess one of my best finds is from the local E-waste recycling center. I found a C128D in working order for 10 €. Other one was a buy ad I had at the local newsgroup for a C1541. I was offered one for free, with a C128, a datasette, couple of joysticks and a bunch of original games. Bless that gentleman!

Penny’s cute 🙂 Although I’m here for the retro, it’s nice to see such a "new" thing 🙂

Within the last year I found a working Osborne 1 at a Goodwill. From the case, they probably thought it was a sewing machine 🙂

Along the lines of the last thing you mentioned, are you looking for a 486 chip and board? I’m in the east bay, so getting one to you would be easy to do.

Congrats from Brazil! We have a retrocomputing podcast (Retrocomputaria), and YouTube told us about your channel. So, we comment some of your videos in the Repórter Retro podcast (our news podcast), in the Rise From your Grave section.

BTW, the RGB2HDMI is amazing. Congrats!

Your audio keeps fading in and out.

Lovely puppy. Golden Retrievers can be a handful if you don’t take time with them early on, so you’re definitely doing it the right way.

Yeah, those shipping charges for cartridges seem a bit steep. I found a nice 23" LG display at goodwill in town for $10.00 minus a power brick. I already had an old "universal" laptop power adapter that worked just fine once i found the right tip.

I love living where I do – it’s a great part of the world – but it is a real retro tech desert.
The nearest dedicated electronics recycling centre is many hours away. There are a few nearby all-purpose recycling centres with small eWaste dumpsters, but the problem is only one of them is friendly to people poking around. (It is the place I’ve found most of my best stuff though)

Only one thrift store within an hour’s drive is even worth looking at because a couple of times in the last three years I’ve found an old computer book or a somewhat interesting game on CD. There are two more further out that occasionally have more interesting items, but again it’s a long long trip to get to them.

There are also sometimes estate sales, but as mentioned in the video they are very hit-and-miss.

And I’ve yet to find any like-minded people nearby, let alone clubs.

And to top it off, I’m just comically bad at networking. I could probably mitigate some of my problems if I were any good at striking up conversations with staff at recycling centres or reaching out to find other people into retro tech, but after I get two words out I can sense them reaching for the mustard spray!
