Windows 7 Starter: Very simple, very basic. You can only have 3 windows open at a time. Only for Internet browsing really.
Windows 7 Home Premium: Has new interface, great for games and the Internet and movies and media and that stuff. Will be very popular. No XP Mode.
Windows 7 Professional: Has Windows XP Mode, has media stuff and games, no bitlocker or multi language support. Great for business and play.
Windows 7 Ultimate: Has XP Mode, has bitlocker, has 35 different languages, has everything available in Windows 7.
I will be using Windows 7 Professional.

Ultimate I think would be better for gaming because it would greater utilize your computer’s hardware. But… you would need a genuine Windows 7 Ultimate Product key, the Basic one wouldn’t work.
