Why Apple And Google Are Working On Diabetes Tech

Apple and Alphabet are moving into the health care. Both companies have been rumored to be working on non-invasive ways to check blood glucose levels but never bought anything to market. Now, both tech giants are collaborating with medical device company Dexcom, a maker of continuous glucose monitors for people with diabetes. CNBC got an inside look at the innovation behind Dexcom’s latest CGM and its manufacturing process to better understand why two of the world’s biggest tech companies are partnering with it.

they tried to do this a few years ago, and the device failed – due to lack of accuracy.

My daughter is benefitting from this … my 34 year old daughter has had diabetes since age 3 … she is very healthy and just completed a marathon! She is amazing so this will help her immensely. She’s happy to have it now how about a cure? Insulin is so expensive it’s ridiculous …
When she was diagnosed it was $20 a bottle now it’s $500-700? Come on those big pharma companies are raping and killing these people some just can’t afford it even with insurance ! Come on Apple lower insulin put pressure on someone help these 629 million people for the future!

There is still no stand-a-line device like smartwatches. It NOT AN TECHNICAL ISSUE! It’s a marketing and licensing issue.

  6. Tripping on Nutmeg on October 28, 2020 at 3:47 pm

Let’s see dexcom launch a rechargeable transmitter like the Miao Miao. I doubt it, there’s too much money to be made with the disposable expensive transmitters.

  7. Jullie Thomas on October 28, 2020 at 3:49 pm

I wear Libre sensor and apple watch to check my readings on direct mode through ambrosia device and their Linkblucon app.

There is an informative video that shows rise through blood glucose check while eating several foods. You can find it by searching for’Dangte’ in the search box. I think it will help manage blood sugar

Sensonics reported file to FDA for 180 days eversense cgm to get a approval about last few weeks ago. So FDA will be approval soon! I believe… God will help them. Also most US ppl can try 180 days eversense from Middle of 2021. This CGM can be change all of ppl lifestyle also 7 days, 14 days cgm can’t beat this eversense CGM. There is big 4 reasons.. 1. 180days cgm got upgraded so it’s not like 90days. 2. In covid time so many ppl died from diabetes 3. 90 days cgm got approval in only 40days from FDA testers. All 8ppl tasters was all agreed at that time. 4. Other diabetes company and US Medicare company’s are wanted eversense cgm and they invested on beginning of 2021

So I think they are not stupid and they know this CGM will be changing everything on the future! I think so either! Many ppl suffered from testing and still same sheeet all of the world. Also expensive all the cgm are..
Even dexcom need to be changed in few days. Their new version of CGM is still like a playing with "LEGO". So many things to be connected. Eversense cgm got good result for 180days, so it will not make u disappointed. Cgm alreay upgrade lots of things then before. This will be best CGM in the world and wait for 180 days and 365 days cgm will show up at market on 2022! Go sensonics!!! Do not give up~♡

Android as all the Bells and whistles so please stop nicking my quotes 3 years ago! Also, Xdrip is 100% better than
Dexcom’s software so please Dexcom leave us to the future! And stop changing your firmware! you are stopping technology not advancing it! Also, nice the Dexcom G7 is smaller but 15 days I have had 40 days and had great readings maybe not good enough for being on a pump but def good enough for keeping me alive! Freestyle Libre does not live up to a T1’s needs in all manner of things too! Def, not a bell away for me only scared tissues and bad readings so Dexcom is 100% for me just not their software! That is xdrip or in apple case Spike. Nightscout also has a very good technology to help but not 100% reliable on the connections quite yet! Thanks for the video so glad I tested a Closed-loop AAPS and was fine for 3 days of using it so why are we still waiting for a FDA when they don’t know what they are doing in the first place I know this due to blood machines giving false readings and been passed by an FDA so please let us get on with it and stop hindering us T1s to keep alive. Has the company you might love me or hate me but I have to say the truth on items that keep me alive! Dexcom Does! so far! but the rash needs to get resolved for many of us 🙂 I also have an Android watch with more bells and whistles than Apples! 🙂

ACE pumps will be the demise of those who don’t get on board. I Hope libre stays somewhat honest. Yipsomed will eventually come through I believe. Blue tooth.

I am using Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre with Ambrosia’s blucon and can get my glucose readings on my apple watch even without the phone. I can share readings with upto 5 people in almost real-time. Can get alarms and my loved one can also get an alarm if my glucose is out of range. I can see my health activity data on the ambrosia.care platform to see my glucose readings, insulin, exercise, food, sleep, heart data in a unified view to see impact on my glucose levels. Ambrosia.care platform integrates  Apple health, google fit and Fitbit to one platform along with FreeStyle Libre and a few other devices.

This video makes me laugh 😂 why don’t these big tech company’s just put a Bluetooth reader in the pumps so it can read the Dexcom transmitter 🤔 game over life changer for everyone!! But No money money money!! Keep dangling a carrot in our faces!! 🤣 😏

  19. Wilbur R Drewry Contractors on October 28, 2020 at 4:02 pm

Please make freestyle libre work with Apple Watch. We can only afford that product.

  20. Mak Or on October 28, 2020 at 4:03 pm

why use a separate sensor? so unelegant and gross. Just embed it in the watch.

  21. Eddiesson on October 28, 2020 at 4:05 pm

all you have to do is change target api from the phone to the watch how can that take more than 3 years?

If im diabetic im getting this im not bout to be poking my finger every morning

  34. Joseph on October 28, 2020 at 4:17 pm

I hope Apple and Google and any other tech giants are not just looking at CGMs but also looking at insulin pumps and pen injections etc. For equality and diversity they also need to look at all manufactures (pimps and sensors) and software houses that can develop learning software that looks at the individual persons responses to insulin, food etc. I currently use a Medtronic 640G and a Libre blood glucose sensor coupled to a MiaoMiao device which turns the Libre freestyle in to a CGM.

  35. ineedhoez on October 28, 2020 at 4:19 pm

I have a libre. I definitely would like my data pushed like dexacom but I am not willing to pay for it. My insurance doesn’t cover it, so It would cost me about 800. No dice. Everyone should have one. It is amazing watching the impact foods have on your blood sugar. I literally see the immediate consequences of eating trash ass food. Even more, food you THINK is healthy.

They better hope no one actually cures diabetes. Funny thing is that is what all diabetics want.

  39. Toxic Icy on October 28, 2020 at 4:22 pm

Im a type 1 diabetic and i use the dexcom G6 and the apple watch for an easy way to read my blood levels in school. (Ye I know I’m pretty young to still be in school😂?

  40. Tripping on Nutmeg on October 28, 2020 at 4:23 pm

Google…get out of bed with dexcom. They are thieves. The world is waking up and wont suffer those who try to take too much profit from those who prosper from others misfortune. Libre can be used as a cgm and is as accurate as dexcom. If sugar could be read through the skin, why would we include dexcom. Hand shakes under the table. Thats why

  41. Andy on October 28, 2020 at 4:23 pm

Type 2 diabetes is completely reversible in a short amount of time simply by changing diet.

Misinformation at the beginning stating that there were only 2 companies in the game of CGM Dexcom and Libre. They failed to mention Medtronic which is comparable to Dexcom.

  48. A Fernandez on October 28, 2020 at 4:29 pm

Why? Hmmm… Look at the trend in obesity not just only in the U.S but also the world. More and more people will become diabetic which means a higher demand for medicine and technology to help regulate blood sugar. Healthcare in general is a fountian of money. Do not expect this technology to be cheap.

  49. Michael Hursh on October 28, 2020 at 4:32 pm

sounds like they are milking this for all it worth. are as they say a cash cow. only reason all them are in this is to sell add on like watches, injection devices, monitoring software and devices.
